The Carnage Of Fresher’s Week – Stats Exposed The Truth
The results are in with Fresh weeks over for another year and the new student have drunk their way through over 1 million pints, 5 million slices of pizza and 840,000 kebabs.
First week of University otherwise known as Fresher’s Week, famous for students across the county to let their hair down and partying without their parents around. UCAS stated 419,627 applicants had a place confirmed this year which was an increrase of 44,523.
Just Eat, the UK’s leading online takeaway ordering site noticed a huge rise in takeaway orders from student halls and decided to take a closer look.
Just-Eat found on average by surverying 1,628 Freshers the following stats:
Takeaways – take aways are an essential part of any student’s diet. Pizzas Have always been popular with students however this year they proved to be a big success, kebabs are obviously still popular in any students diet:
Pizza – the average student ate 12 slices of pizza this Fresher’s Week, totalling 5,035,524 slices of pizza (based on the intake of 419,627 applicants this year)
Alcohol – students wouldn’t be students if they didn’y overindulge on their first week of freedom from their parents:
- Pints – the male fresher population an average drank 6 pints a night which means a grand total of 1,258,881 pints were finished off over the week
- Spirits – females drank an average of 34 measures throughout the week creating a whopping total of 7,133,659 spirit measures
- Shots – amazingly 14 shots were drunk on average during fresher’s week per person or a total of 5,874,788
Paracetamol – the dreaded hangover, what would true night be without having to deal with a hangover in the morning? Students claimed to have taken an average of 10 paracetamol tablets last week, meaning a staggering 262,267 packs of tablets were used during the course of the week
Fancy dress outfits – fancy dress plays a large part in the first week of most students’ Uni lives, and this year was no exception. 3 in 4 fresher’s said they dressed up with an average of 4 costumes used throughout the week. At this rate, 1,258,881 guises were worn by apparently drunken students.
