Every Woman Must Know: Menstruation Issues
Among the young girls and women it is a normal occurrence that the menstrual cycles are not totally formed and irregular, and no one says that it is something abnormal. because usually in one-two years the cycle becomes regular. But if the regulation has not taken place at all, or if women in their twenties and older have menstrual disorders, this can be called a real problem.
Menstruation lasts from three to five days as a rule. apart from bleeding, there may be some other unpleasant symptoms, like breast pain and tenderness, problems with sleep, mood swings, and vaginal odour.
Some of the symptoms of menstruation are very similar to PMS symptoms, and it may even seem that the PMS just persists during menstruation period. Apart from it a woman can notice that vaginal odour, as well as the body odour in general are much stronger than usually. Perspiration causes the odour to be very strong because the moisture from your body react to the bacteria on your skin. The odour is not unpleasant – it is just stronger than usual, but if your skin is dirty the odour becomes unpleasant, so hygiene of the whole body is particularly important during menstruation.
The intensiveness of the flow of blood during menstruation can be categorized as light, moderate or heavy. Most women experience some slight brownish blood secretion on the day before actual menstruation, and then the blood flow is either gradually increasing, or at some point a fairly big amount of blood appears. Sometimes the menstruation flows smoothly and all the blood is slowly flowing all the time, but most women experience pulse-like menstruation, when a big amount of blood comes out during a couple of minutes, and after this there is half an hour of so of the “dry” period. Till the end of menstruation the blood flow stops, and some women experience a distinct end of the menstruation, and some of them are forced to cope with slight brownish blood emissions from one to five days after the actual menstruation.
Leucorrhoea – a half-transparent whitish substance that is constantly coming out of the vagina in very small quantities – persists to discharge during the menstruation too. During menstruation leucorrhoea has a different colour and smell and its function is to maintain the cleanness of the vagina. But sometimes there are some abnormalities in the discharge of leucorrhoea, which need to be noticed and cured, if necessary. If these disorders are provoked by infections, this is an illness which has to be cured. It may seem insignificant, but if not cured on time it can cause inflammation processes of the inner reproductive organs, which can lead to infertility if combined with other factors.
If you notice any irregularities of your menstrual cycle and of the leucorrhoea discharge, it is necessary to address your doctor immediately.
