See Dublin Cheap!
Dublin: Flight + Hotel + Car, 2 people, £296.27pp, July 27 – 31
If you and your partner have got nothing better to do next week, hop on a flight to Dublin, pick up a nippy Corsa and head for a five day break at the 3-star Maldron Hotel Citywest, all for less than £300 per person. The flights are from London City Airport to Dublin Airport, with AirFrance. It’s perfect if you live in London- you can leave your house as if you were going for a day at the office, depart from London on the 9.45am flight on Monday July 27, and be in Dublin by 11.10am in time for a Guinness brunch. The return flight leaves Dublin at 7.35am on Friday July 31, getting you safely back to home for 9.15am.
The Maldron Hotel is only 6.9 miles away from the centre of Dublin, in Kingswood Village. Describing itself as ‘stylish and contemporary’, the hotel has easy access to the Luas, Dublin’s light railway system. It offers spacious, modern accommodation and free internet access throughout, with free wired broadband in the rooms and free wireless internet access in the hotel’s public areas. Other amenities include conference facilities, rooms with disabled access, high-speed internet, a restaurant and bar, dry cleaning, elevator, parking facilities and a reception. It’s a standard double room, but you probably won’t spend much time in it, being so close to everything Dublin has to offer.
Included in the bill is a state of the art Vauxhall Corsa. You’ll get unlimited mileage, an optional collision damage waiver, theft protection and third party liability cover. The cost also covers VAT, a location service charge and vehicle license fees. It’s an excellent car to suit holiday excursions; roomy, comfortable and built to a high standard, it’s perfect to get you everywhere you need to be on your holiday.
There’s plenty going on in Dublin next week, but here are a few suggestions:
On Monday 27 Tom Hickey, one of Ireland’s best-loved and most distinctive actors is starring in Michael Harding’s tale about Irish Catholicism, The Kiss at Bewley’s Cafe Theatre.
On Tuesday 28 at 8pm in the National Concert Hall, Stuart O’Sullivan will perform a piano recital, including showpieces from Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninov.
On Wednesday 29 July from 9am-5.30pm you can explore Emmett Martin’s photographic exhibition, ‘Taking Liberties’ at the Temple Bar. It’s free entry so worth a look.
On Thursday 30 July, for your last night in Dublin, check out the magical wonder that is Keith Barry, winner of the Merlin Award for ‘Mentalist of the Year 2009’. He’s on at the Olympia Theatre from 8pm.
