The United Arab Emirates is strictly increasing into one of the most popular tourist destinations all over the world. The federation of six Emirates was established on December, 2 1971 including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Fujairah, Sharjah and Umm al Qaiwain, i.e. the United Arab Emirates – whereas the seventh, Ras al Khaimah, joined in 1972.

Abu Dhabi in the uae is considered as the Manhattan of the Middle East and is a well-developed city full of skyscrapers. It is the pulsing heart of the United Arab Emirates owing many sights like the Heritage Village, the beautiful Corniche or beach, the Al Hisn Fort, the Petroleum Exhibition, old souks, Breakwater Island, Sheik Zayed’s Palace and the oldest part of the town, the Batin. It is also home to the White Fort, called the Diwan Amiri.
Despite its modernization, Abu Dhabi still today preserves meaningful things deriving from its past.
Al Ain, which is located sixty miles away from Abu Dhabi, is an impressive caravan stop as well as a large city rich in history. Among other attractions there is a camel market, a zoo and a museum that includes artefacts coming from different ages of the past as well as some good examples of Mesopotamian pottery. The camel riding, sand skiing, four wheel desert safaris, Bedouin barbeques and dhow cruises make it a unique place for tourists from all over the world.
The desert area is undoubtedly a special attraction. Sand skis, camel rides, four wheel drives amidst the majestic red dunes and stark mountains draw the unforgettable desert experience. The oasis in the desert is a great place to stay, but the excursion through the desert also offers an opportunity of meeting the Beduin folk or the nomadic tribes who are very hospitable. Watching the camel races at dawn is also a great way to begin the day.
Visit Ras-al-Khaimah and you will admire breathtaking views of the old sea port, the Hajar Mountains, Dhaid and Khatt oases and mineral springs. The excursion to Ras-al-Khaimah also offers trips to Dibba, a natural harbour and Khor Kalba, one of the most famous and modern shell beaches in the world. The Drabhaniya ruins present in the site is another interesting historical spot.
Morevoer, each of the other Emirates is well worth visiting, each for a specific reason:
- Sharjah, as it is a mix of spirituality and culture;
- Ajman, the smallest Emirate, offering ideal surroundings both for leisure and business stays;
- Umm Al Quiwain, still based on agriculture and fishing, where a lot of significant archaeological sites are also located;
- Fujairah, boasting a strong inclination towards tourism: it is also the only Emirate lying on the Indian Ocean shores.
