How To Magically Melt Away A Coin In A Glass Of Water.
Magic Tricks with money will always get the attention of any audience. In this very effective trick, you will get to know how to make a borrowed coin simply melt away in a glass of water.
How It Looks To The Spectators.
The magician takes a small glass and half-fills it with water or whiskey (if you are old enough or can afford it). He then holds the glass in the palm of his left hand. He asks a spectator to lend him a coin and places it in the center of a handkerchief.
Covering the glass with the handkerchief, the magician drops the coin into the glass. All the people hear the coin fall into the glass and the magician removes the handkerchief and lets everyone see it in the glass. The performer then takes an elastic band from his pocket and snaps it over the handkerchief at the mouth of the glass.
The magician gives the glass to a spectator to hold. The magician says he will make the coin melt out in the water and waves his fingers over the glass. When the viewer takes the handkerchief off the glass, the coin has completely disappeared and everything can be examined!
How Does the Trick Work.
For this trick you are going to require a handkerchief and a small, drinking glass that will fit comfortably on the palm of your hand. The glass should also be wide enough, so the coin may surface flat at the bottom.
Show the glass to the audience and then half-fill it with water or vodka. Grasp the glass in the palm of your left hand. Then borrow a coin and have a spectator place the coin in the center of your hankie. Hold the coin through the handkerchief and cover the glass with the hankie, so the coin is directly above the glass. No one will be capable to see the glass as the handkerchief is covering it completely.
As you are telling everyone that you are about to show them an astonishing trick, slowly tilt the glass back towards your wrist with your left fingers. An angle of approximately sixty-seventy five degrees is normally enough. Pretend to drop the coin into the glass; however, because the glass is held at an angle, the coin will hit the front of the glass with a “chink” and then fall into your left fingers.
As you are talking, slowly move the glass into an upright position and work the coin under the glass with your fingers. You can then remove the handkerchief and allow people to see the coin in the glass. Although the coin is actually under the glass, since the glass has liquid in it, it will appear to be in the glass.
Cover the glass with the hankie again and tell everyone that you need to make the glass “sealed”. Hold the top of the glass, through the hankie, with your right hand. Loosely, close your left fingers to hide the coin and then reach into your left pocket. When your hand is in your pocket, discard the coin and pick up the elastic band. Then buckle up the elastic band over the handkerchief and the top of the glass.
You can now say you are going to make the coin melt out in the water. Everyone will be truly amazed to see that the coin has completely melted out !
