Happy Memories That Are Precious And Have A Story To Tell
It’s that time of year when spring is just around the corner and that can only mean one thing – tidy up time.
A few days ago the sun was shining and lovely as it was, unfortunately this made our house show up all the layers of dust that had accumulated over the winter months. Therefore I decided spring had sprung early and it was time to start cleaning.
It all began with all good intentions of me cleaning the house from top to bottom. Our kitchen was first on the hit list and because that took longer than I thought, I was already starting to feel weary. However I persevered and next on the list was clearing out the Utility room. In our house this is one of those rooms where everything gets dumped and the door gets shut. I hadn’t been working long when I stumbled across a load of Cheap Books that my mum had given to me. This sent me off on a trip down memory lane and my clearing out came to a standstill.
My mum was what you would call a book addict and was always at her best when she was reading. She didn’t really mind what she read it could be anything ranging from Fiction Books, romance books and she even owned a few Cook Books. I’m not sure why she had the cook books, because she never really seemed to be adventurous with her cooking. Perhaps she just liked looking at all the lovely colourful pictures!
It was funny but I can remember a holiday we went on to Lanzarote. In my suitcase I had packed all the usual, towels, bikinis, sun tan lotion etc. When mum unpacked her case it was absolutely full of books. She must have had at least 10 with her. We were only away for 2 weeks so I thought it was hilarious. Mind you she had the last laugh as she enjoyed sunbathing around the pool reading her books and she got a fantastic suntan.
Well my spring cleaning didn’t really go as well as I had hoped, but you know what it’s like sometimes you get sidetracked and I must admit when there is cleaning involved, any excuse to stop is always welcome.
